will i see much of a difference from my current spec of

4770k
16gb vengance ram 2800 mhz ddr3
770gtx

to

socket 2011

5820K 15mb cache
16gb vengance ram 3000mhz ddr 4
980 GTX

i use it for games, video editing, and photoshop.
i havent had my hands on a 2011 spec yet so not sure how much different it is in the real world? any suggestions on changing the spec welcome.

The two extra cores would give a bit of a boost to video editing & photoshop but for gaming it's not worth it. The RAM would see marginal increase in PS/Editing but not really worth the cost I'd personally say get the 980 (or maybe a Titan X if you're not getting the other bits), stick with the other bits you've got and see how you fare.

Ignoring the £ value is there a performance gain? Loss? Or nothing at all? Any pros vs cons

In my post above I have a link to Anandtech which shows a rough comparison between the 2 cpu's.

The socket 2011 will be slightly quicker if the software being used can utilise the extra 2 cores but only a small margin.

I did take a look at the link and it seemed neither here nor there. Cost doesn't come into it
Performance is all that matters.

It's not slight. If 2 more cores are being used you'll see a performance increase proportional to that.
