Hi ya fellas,

Are there any dual core socket 479 cpu's i can replace my centrino with?

Ive just bought 2gb of memory and reckon that it'd pair up nicely with a dual core cpu.

Cheers in advance

Steve

Well, ive found this:

Intel Core Duo T2400 Socket 479 1.83GHz 667FSB 2MB Cache - wonder if it'll work with my Acer Travelmate.

I reckon emailing Acer would be the best bet.

If you've got a Centrino laptop featuring Intel Pentium M CPU's, you won't be able to use Intel Core Duo's.

While the Pentium M and Core Duo have the same number of pins, the pin arrangement is actually different. The chipset used on Core Duo's are different too (945GM/945PM vs. 855PM/GM and 915PM/GM)

However if you've got a 400FSB Pentium M in a 915 chipset laptop, you can do a pin mod to override it to 533FSB thus overclocking it, if thats of any interest :)
