Don't know if this has been posted before but i found this little snippet over at Dailytech. Read this!! .

It would seem that 754 will last a whole year longer than 939. I always said there is no point in upgrading to 939 when it will be itself replaced this year.

Thats not really a problem at the moment though, unless you do lots of editing etc. If you are just gaming there are hardly any games that support dual core so the extra year will not make much difference.

If you read the discussion further down that page it is true what they say and that AM2 may well become the budget socket after a year. That will be when 754 finally goes and if AM3 does come out then it will be like 754/939 all over again and the early adopters will be losing out on extra features again.

They have already shown that AM2 with DDR2 is not much of a performance increase over 939 and there are a load of Semprons coming out for AM2 so i wonder if they will launch AM3 a year later with support for DDR3?

As for dual channel memory that's not as much a performance gain as people make out. 2-5% at most 7%. My rig certainly does'nt suffer from the lack of it.
