Socket 775, DDR3 and Intel Chipset?

Currently I have:
Asus something or other on the nF 650i chipset
Q6600
6gb DDR2 (2x1GB Patriot CL4 w/ Heatsink + 2x2gb Exlir crappy stuff)

I really wanted to OC but the mobo just acts up constantly and has finally decided not to let me OC at all, so I'm really looking for a new Mobo.

I want an Intel Chipset and I'd like it to support or be DDR3 I think, for the faster speed memory. I know I need to get rid of the Exlir memory before I start to OC properly so figured I may as well go for DDR3 now as I also plan to upgrade to an i5 in the future once I've saved some monies. So I'm not looking to spend much cash right now. £50 max I think.

Does anyone have any suggestions at all? Be it a product or plan suggestion?

Cheers

I have an ATX case but it obviously has the holes to fit a mATX mobo.
No on board gfx required, just got myself a GTX 460.

As for the OC'ing. I've tried several times and it just refuses. I took it in to work for one of the more experience techies to have a look at it and he said the same as myself.

Now that you mention it, that is the Mobo I have. P5N-E SLI.

I also have an Artic Freezer Pro in the machine, which should easily get the cpu above 3Ghz.

First time I OC'd my machine, I got it to 2.6 stable but 2.7 crashed then it wouldn't go over stock. I took it in work, reseated it, put some decent silver based TIM on it and reset the CMOS. Got it to 2.6 again, then 2.7 crashed and it refused to OC again.
By refused to OC, I mean I change FSB, Voltage ect, Save, Exit. It reboots and still runs at stock FSB and voltage. It's like it just ignores what I'm telling it to do. Even upping the FSB slightly so it runs at around 2.5, it ignores it.

As for the memory. I know the Exlir stuff is rubbish. I had 4 GB of the PATRIOT stuff but managed to find this Exlir stuff and at the time I had no plan on OCing so went for the extra 2GB memory.

I've tried the memory in different slots too. I've used all 4 slots on the mobo.

EDIT:
The biggest issue I'm finding with DDR3 mobos is that they only support 4gb max memory. I have 6gb and don't want to downgrade.

It was fine mate. No problems what so ever.
I'm using latest via as of Sept 30th which is when I updated it.
Card I'm using is the Gainward GTX 460 GLH 1gb. Excellent card imo.

Yup. Unlinked it and kept the memory at 800mhz. I've tried underclocking the memory slightly too but same issue.

I should be getting one of those small nb fans in the post today, so I'll try that.

Ok, I got the fan suggested today but I'm just wondering. Do I take the big chipset heatsink off? Doesn't make sense to me.
