Hi,

On the assumption that my current board or CPU is, for want of a better phrase, buggered, I am considering a move to a socket 775-based system.

Since my knowledge of what's hot and what's not in the world of socket 775 amounts to zero, or something closely approaching that, I would like some advice on what board, CPU & RAM combo to go for.

What chipsets should I go for, which should I avoid? Which CPU gives the best 'bang for buck'? Which brand is the RAM of choice these days?

Suggestions please?

Either of the two specifications would do, Will_3rd's probably has more potential for overclocking but steve258 has given you a better cooler which would help overclocking so something combining the two would be best. :)
