hi
i have got
Intel Pentium E2180 (socket 775)
2 x 1GB DDR2-1066
ATI Radeon X1950 PRO 128MB
GIGABYTE GA-P31-D3SL
AverMedia DVB-T TV Tuner
USB 3.0 PCI-E x1

i would like to upgrade gradually over the next few years, firstly i would like to upgrade the ram, i have been reccomended not to get DDR2 upgrade and instead to go for DDR3, but i cannot afford to upgrade the processor and everything at once.

any socket 775 DDR3 motherboards that will sopport all of my componants?
thanks in advance

i was thinking upto £100 but might be able to go to £120
i was hopeing for full ATX to make use of this MASSIVE server standard case

one question about that board, can i use DDR2-1066 aswell as the DDR3 1333 or is it just one or the other?

What do you use your machine for out of interest?

I'd be tempted to sell your DDR2, get 4GB of DDR2. If you're a gamer flog the graphics card too and use the change to get something better. 4870 or something.

The new board route would give you DDR3, which means you've got that in your favour if you were to go i5/7/Sandy but for me it's not enough of a swing.

Also what cooler are you running on the e2180? Might be able to squeeze some more clock love out of that, I had my e2180 up to 3.4 on a AC7 Pro.

i am currently using stock, however i do have a CoolerMaster TX3 here to put on when i have chance.
i do gaming and all other work on my computer, but ddr2-1066 is £90!!

where did you get that from?
i would prefere ddr2-1066 if you come across any anywhere,
i dont know if my intel P31 will sopport 2GB chips though, i know it only sopports one double sided ram per channel
