Socket 775 upgrade help

Currently running a "coal powered" Athlon XP 2600+, but have managed to pick up a socket 775 mobo (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-101-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1485...

...am looking for a decent budget CPU (with a view to do some OC'ing) and some RAM.

Just wondering what you would recommend?

Would be great. Whack the FSB to 1066 for an instant 3.4Ghz overclock

I would consider the q6600 as they can oc very high and have same/better performance with the q9650. Also, this memory is a good choice http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-086-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

I've picked 800mhz insted of 1066mhz as it gives you headroom to overclock.

The Q6600 sounds like a pretty good choice.

I dont know much about memory so probably wouldnt overclock it. Would you recommend going to 800mhz or 1066mhz?

PS. how easy is it to overclock memory?

From what i can see on the mobo memory, 1066mhz is the highest it can go. Unless you can oc past that I don't know. But the performance difference between 800 to 1066 is nothing. 1066mhz will not take advantage when gaming but the pc will feel more "snappier" in windows.

When you overclock the cpu, you are overclocking the ram also, so make sure you don't go crazy overclocking the cpu
You can chance the SPD on the memory when overclocking the cpu, it lowers your memory mhz so gives you headroom to oc the cpu.
