Socket 939 FX or X2?

x2 4200 using a evo 120 air cooler got my toledo up to 3gig 285*11
you got to go for the x2 the 4200 is the one.

cheers

It's also a few times more expensive.

But an X2 3800+ is better than the FX55 the OP was looking at.

I agree with Cob! Miles better! :D

If you have a decent clocking board - asus/dfi then keep your 4200+ and with a decent air cooler you should see close to 3ghz per core. Pretty much what fx55's topped out at anyway.

At that point you'd pretty much have 2x fx55's! ;)

Dual core is definately worth it over single.

had a little play with the bios last night and got 296*11 = 3256Ghz the system was stable I played COD2 for a few hours with no problems but I did take it back to 3gig as it was sucking up 1.6v and the temps shot up which was a bit to much for my liking, but when its time to build a new system I will just have to see how much there's 4200+ dual can take, I was quite impressed with 3.2gig
from a 2.2gig chip on Air evo 120. got to say it helps having a DFI MB the OC options go on and on paid £65 @ OCUK for my board done the simple mod of a pencil line to connect the SLI bridges about a week latter the price went up to £128 bloody good timing

cheers
