hi guys
can anyone tell me what laptops use this ,I'm looking to get a 2nd hand one for hopefully £100 to £200 @(maybe a bit more)
and then fit an fx55 chip i already have ,would this be doable?
other specks i would need in one is- 2 gig ram(but dont mind buying with less and adding after) ,dvdrw ,wireless ,serial port
and hopefully blue-tooth
recommendations would be great

cheers guys ,
i know the HP zv6000/Compaq R4000 came with 939 ,but Ive never seen one so was hopeing some of you guys might point me in the right direction of maybe something else

never knew that :) id check with compaq etc or which ever one you intend to buy that they will accept the cpu you want to use first tho

i can tell you even if your FX-55 is socket 939 and compatible it will BURN up that laptop if you put it in there, laptop cpu's run at lower TDP (thermal output) meaning less heat compared to the equivalent desktop cpu.

thanks guys ,i hear what your saying
the thinking behind this was i have the fx in my pc and i am looking for a cheap laptop
and thought when i get round to upgrading my pc i could use it to upgrade the lappy.
are well i guess maybe rethink and use the fx in a backup pc/media centre and try and get a cheap laptop

IIRC AMD uses different socket for mobile chips and as suggested even if it fits the cooling system & power supply are more likely not cut out for a desktop FX chip. Intel never used LGA775 in laptops either even the latest mobile C2D uses skt479 which has been around for ages.
