socket 939, which cpu

just got a 939 board and wondered which is the best chip to go for, main use is gaming tho mainly CSS encoding music and some office work. so the choice is opteron,a64 or a64x2.

3800 X2 looks to be at a reasonable price point to get.

Exact same here. Check my sig. I'm going to try 2.8Ghz after the 200 hour burn in with AS5 as it's hitting 55'C dual prime @ 2.7Ghz. This chip does 3Ghz on Water and the reason I know is that I bought it off someone. X2 3800's are the biz.

If you want to get a supreme chip then search for people selling great steppings. I got this delivered from someone in the USA for £111.

Get the X2 3800. Excellent CPU and great value for money.
If you can stretch a little then go for the X2 4400 which has 2x1mb cache which should boost performance when encoding.
