I'm being driven nuts by a friends PC which I have been short strawed into fixing.

System is as follows:

XP2500 Barton
1GB Ram
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
128mb ATI 9700
80GB IDE HDD
120GB SATA HDD
500GB SATA HDD
400w Akasa Paxpower PSU

The following issue was happening with an Epox board as well:

Windows is installed on the IDE hard drive.

Bios detects both SATA hard drives.

Windows does not pick up either SATA hard drive at all, the drivers for the SATA controller are installed (I have tried several different drivers).

I have tested both the SATA hard drives in an external caddy and in my own machine and both work fine.

Have changed the power supply to a known good one just in case and hasn't helped either.

I've searched online and it seems many people have SATA issues with this board however none of the suggestions I have found have been any help at all so I'm now at a loss!

I can't see it being a hardware issue as I have already replaced and checked most things, so am I missing something software wise?

Do they show up in the disk management ?

Are the disks set to the right SATA speed i.e 1 or 2 ?

With my old machine I had to turn the RAID on in the bios to enable to SATA drives to be detected.
