Socket A upgrade

Mate's got a duron 1300 cpu but wants to upgrade, is a 2400+ xp(secondhand) any better than a Sempron 2600(new)???

Both seem to be around the same price.

The motherboard will take either.(socket A)

I can still get hold of a new socket a sempron 2600 for about £45

Motherboard is not a problem as it's a Asus one that I had before running with a 3200xp(which i sold)

The cpu will not be getting overclocked...but he just needs the best socket a cpu he can get for no more than £50
