Socket burn back with Sandy Bridge?

Looks like wear and tear to me?

I cant see anything out of the ordinary, ive seen 775,771,1156,1366 sockets do it. Ive put it down those are the pins supplying the most voltage.

As matthab said, these may be voltage supply pins, and we don't know the story of what that motherboard had been through before landing at techreaction.

If, for example, it had been tested by another tech site, who used some silly (1.5+) voltage to see how far the SB chips will go, I wouldn't be shocked by this happening. If it hadn't been abused though, it may be an issue. That said, an isolated incident isn't a cause for panic just yet, we'll have to wait and see if it is indeed a one off or a design issue.

easy way to get a lot of hits, looks like an amateurish site?

on there oc guide they say max voltage is 1.4

1.42 kills the chips? dont intel sya max voltage 1.38 unless you want to risk damaging the lifespan of your cpu? the guys probably used to much voltage and thats the result

Review motherboards are often passed around, and the stuff that is done to a motherboard that you are not going to keep or one that you have not bought yourself is horrendous. People will push insane volts through the board to try and get a extreme result that can be used by marketing people. So I really do not get stressed with stuff like that.

Makes me very pleased to have bought a board that has outstanding after sales service mind you. :D

but it seems to burn on stock without any real stress pit to it

Where does it say that?

The reviewer says it came like that when he got it. So its been to other reviewers and he doesnt know whats happened. I wouldnt trust that report as its not a fair real world test.

in a chineese site and btw you know manufactures test the motherboards, so it could have burnt in the test which might aswell easily happen when you run it at home.
