Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows of any HSFs for socket F's which are available in the UK without shipping from the US?

Just I picked up a server off of eBay and without having deltas deafening me, it's struggling to keep cool. The tjmax is admittedly 115, but under minor load it's running at ~53-83 with a pair of mid-CFM fans running into the ducting and over the passive coolers.

I've seen about that there are brackets knocking about, which may allow me to use 939 or AM* coolers I think, but don't want to drop a bunch of cash on something which is very niche and may not do the trick.

Thanks

I believe Startech do some but they are server type ones so will probably not be much quieter. If you can fit big coolers then do a search for Noctua NH-U12DO A3 AMD Opteron CPU Cooler. They are not cheap though.

It depends what mounting pitch your board uses, IIRC it could be 3.5" or 4.1". 3.5" pitch means you can fit coolers designed for 939 and possibly AM2/AM3 etc - 939/AM2/3 mount the same way but if you're using the standard clip mounting, there are slight differences, if it's a cooler with its own mounting hardware then that's irrelevant though. If this is a rack mount server btw you may struggle with clearance and as rackmount heatsinks are generally designed with a specific layout and airflow in mind, "normal" heatsinks even if low profile may not work.

Hope that makes sense, if you're unsure what mounting pitch your board uses just post your make and model.

Source: much research into socket F/939 cooling, watercooled a dual socket F board.
