My electrician told me yesterday that before he could second fix I needed to plaster in around the sockets and chases so he could screw the faceplates in.
Being a good errand boy I set about doing that today but noticed a few of the socket boxes were quite deep in the wall once I had plastered around them.
Once he puts the plates on a few will have a gap of about 0.5cm-1cm between the plate and the metal box. In my head I can see no issue with this as the screws will still reach and the faceplates will tighten, but obviously I would have preferred if there was no gap, but also wanted to check this was ok.
I think the reason behind it was because he chiselled out a space for a 35mm deep box, but then used 25mm boxes for a number of reasons.
