Hi guys just want a bit of advice on whether I have done things right.
here's my spec:

Thermaltake viking case (2x120mmfans)
600w enermax noisetaker psu
Abit AN8 32x (socket 939)
athlon x2 3600+ (939) with arctic cooling freezer pro hsf
4x512mb pc3200 DDR (2x corsair vs and 2x twinmos of same spec)
512mb Inno3D 8800GT
320gb+160gb sataII
winxp pro 32bit

tried a few software overclocks for starters but tbh they are a bit pap, so on the advice of a buddy, had a little play in bios.
I still use Nvidia system tools to overclock the GFX and monitor the gfx and system (quite like the program actually :) )

lowered the Ht multiplier from 5 to 4 and raised the fsb from 200 to 224 and upped the voltage just 1 notch a piece on cpu and ram in bios.

RAM is at 371mhz (think that is best I can acheive stable with cheapo stuff?)
CPU is at 2240mhz (limited by above you reckon? or have you heard of these processors doing more on air?)
HT link is only at 895mhz (doesn't feel bottlenecked so far)

GFX origionally was 600/900/1500 now @ 680/1110/1640 using the nvidia utility

so that's my settings now, tried CPU at 2.4 with ram 400 and wasn't stable enough. (didn't need to reset cmos but crashes and bsod's ahoy!)
2.3 ARMA 2 kept crashing (although could be down to settings and arma2 probably needs umpteen patches yet)

played Arma2 with my current settings for a good few hours (into the early hours lol) last night and everything was fine, no probs, and everything seems to be staying cool.

is the above about right then? am I being too cautious? HT link too low?

ah, ill try that soon, cheers.
I've always got this thread now for reference of my settings that have worked if it goes pearshaped lol.
It's the 'downing' this to 'up' that which I am still getting my head round, thanks

Manually set the vdimm to 2.7v and as you're running 4 sticks of RAM, I'd set the NB at 1.4v. Once you've done this, try upping the FSB again and see if you don't get BSODs this time. Don't worry about the HT link speed being 700-800, there's pretty much no performance penalty for it being that low.

still using socket 939 here too :D
sorry its not a very useful post but its nice to know im not alone :p

here is what my chip is currently running at

what's the NB stand for? :)

then with same settings as above apart from I changed the video memory to DEFAULT I got this

Arma II is a bad thing to benchmark with though as it is a very unstable game lol
I've got so fed up of the CTD's now I've stopped playing multiplayer (armory seems fine... not bothered with campaign as I hear that's also bugged)

Here's to the next patch :p
