Soda Stream for only £20

It is a pretty expensive way to make fizzy drinks we had one over 20 years ago was a expensive gimmick then and still is sadly. The flavours that we really liked as kids where dandelion and burdock and cream soda i remember the cola just tasted like cheap no brand colas maybe things have changed

Parents bought one of these about 30 years ago, pretty cool back then also. ^ I remember dandelion and burdock also. All we used to drink. Think we had better summers back then.

I always wanted my parents to get one when I was a kid as I thought they were the best thing ever. My parents refused as they said it would only be used a few times then forgotten about. They were probably right!

we had one, probably around 35 years ago, but i think if i had one now it wouldnt be long before it joined my sandwich toaster in the back of the cupboard

The device itself is a bargain but when you are going through a tenner a week in gas, 17P bottles of fizzy water from ASDA is a no brainer.

Was gonna buy but worked out the cost for the co2 and the concentrate equals 70p a litre. Can buy sparkling flavoured water for less (4x 1l for £1.50 at Tesco).

I'm all for being eco friendly but I won't pay through the nose for it.

The aim of this is to reduce plastic consumption though.
I do get it though plastic PET bottles can be widely recycled these days so its probably nowhere near the same impact as say, ten years ago. Operating costs for customers will rule though.
Polystyrene is my bugbear. Chippy and takeaways love using them.

Oh by the by, when they say "DO NOT RE-CARBONATE FLAT CARBONATED SOFT DRINKS", do as you are told. I once scoffed at this and wanted to re-carbonate my DrPepper.

Everywhere it went.

I had to mop the ceiling.

These were a gimik back then and still are :P we had one in the late 80's, and as others have said, we used it about 5 times :P

We've got one and we used it quite a lot... for 6 months. It isn't cheap once you factor in the gas and concentrate syrup and the taste isn't that good. The syrup plastic bottles are too small really aswell!
