Hi.

Ive been looking for some sodimm PC2-4200 memory for my laptop. I got an offer for some PC2-5300 memory sticks.

Can anyone confirm that they will (should) still work in my laptop although the manufacture says that the PC2-4200 is the max it can handle. i.e. will the faster RAM still work but the laptop just uses as much of it as it can.

What's the laptop's chipset? You should be fine though. I stuck 667mhz in a lappy that had 533mhz stuff. Only problem was the chipset was limited to 2GB total :(

Yes it will work, but it's speed will be throttled to as much as the motherboard can handle. Also if your motherboard can only handle 1GB per slot, I think that is the maximum. So don't try putting 2GB in 1 slot or it might not work.
