Sofa Advice

Go and sit on some sofas.
I like a firm sofa, rather han one I dissolve into.
It means when sitting for a couple of hours for a movie, the firm sofa gives support, and is exceptionally comfortable.
Some professional fatties will have very soft sofas and don't wish to sit on anything remotely firm.

When we were buying iur aofas, around this time last year, we sat on every dfs sofa, we sat on M&S sofas, independent sofas, and didn't get on with any until we by chance and bored stumbled into next, and in there we found three sofa types we liked the feel of.

Eventually we plumped for their garda range, buying one and a snuggle seat, and then later buying a leather one to compliment the fabric style we had alreafy purchased. I was very pleased with the sofas, and a year later they ar withstanding a two year old quite nicely.

Go and sit on lots and lots of sofas, you can do sixty an hour. You will fins the one you like the feel of.

This is the best advice anyone can give you. Unless you are buying a sofa on a very tight budget you need to go and sit on it, and even then I would try and sit on it before buying

I have vowed that I will never buy a sofa (or chair) without sitting in it first.

Another +1 for this.

When we were looking a few years ago we saw all sorts of sofa's that we really liked the look of, but they just weren't comfy. We actually ended up with one that we didn't initially like but it was just so nice to sit in.

At the end of the day I'm going to be sitting in it rather than looking at it so comfort comes before cosmetics :)

And another +1. We sat on loads of sofas before we found one we both liked (100+), but given you're going to be spending a lot of time sitting on it it's well worth taking the time to make sure it's one you'll be comfortable with.

Better hurry, it's not often DFS have a sale on.

But yes certainly try them, even within 1 shop they are all very different and even similar looking styles can feel different.

Echoing the above, be a sofa-**** and give them all a go.

I find that usually ones with nice high backs have shallow seats (so you are bolt upright like airline seats), and those with deep seats have really low (or, urgh, pillow) backs.

Finding a sofa that was both deep and high backed took some time and £900 to DFS's coffers.

I got mine from Paul Simon about a year and a half ago. Took me ages to find one that both myself and my girlfriend liked but the best advice has already been given, go and sit on as many as possible.

From what I remember we paid around £1300 for a 3 and 2 seater.
