Soft tubing fitting advice

I have only done hard tubing before. This is my first soft tubing attempt. Am using Mayhems Ultra Clear Watercooling Tubing (1/2 - 3/4) 19/13mm. I cannot tighten it completely up by hand. Is this normal?

Normal.

Aslong as its a decent way down the thread it's not an issue.

The seal is made by the tubing and the internal barb, the outer sleeve is just to secure the tube in place in case of any movement ( and aesthetics ).

they do not need to go all the way down

That's how my alpha cool fittings are mate been running my loop for a few month's now no problems was a bit worried as some fittings do go all the way down.
