What free alternatives are there to Dreamweaver and Photoshop?

Lots of people will recommend TextMate, even though not free. I use Komodo Edit, which is. Photoshop alternative is Gimp - which may take some fiddling to get running.

Ahh I meant, £38

Still, a good app if you already down Panic Transmit.. beats the ££££ Adobe suite in terms of bang-per-buck in my eyes.
