Software Compatibility Status for PS3 - New?

Is this new, or an old feature that i've missed... Just the fact that it mentions PS2 and PS1 compatibility for the 80gig PS3 caught my attention.

This used to be the site that listed which PS2 games worked, they have just changed it, from showing a list to a search. In the EU the 60GB version had 4 USBs and partial PS2 emulation. In the USA there was an 80Gb model that did the same thing. All other 80Gb models (USA, EU, Japan) had 2 USB ports and no PS2 compatibility.
