Software Cooling

Hi, I have downloaded CPU idle, this is a piece of software which decreases the cpu temp when idle. My idle cpu temp has decreased by 11c, from 36c to 25c on a X2 3800+. Even at 50% load my temp has decreased from 47c to 41c.
Unfortunatly this program is only a 30 day trial.

Are these types of programs safe to use, can they do any damage to the cpu in the long run?
Does anyone know of any free programs which can decrease the cpu temp.

I wouldn't bother.

I'd rather have my CPU @ 100% load all the time, rather than have its temperature rocket up in games, then rocket down again due to a throttling / idling utility.

Just my 2p

(My CPU is at full load all the time anyway, thanks to BOINC.
