A few years ago I came across this software that scanned your system and reported what hardware was present. But now I can't remember the name of it.
I'm trying to get a soundcard driver installed on my mate's pc but I can't be bothered opening the case to scrutanise the sound card.
Anybody know what this software is called?

dxdiag should do it tbh. At least it will tell you what model etc.

In case you dont know... Start -> Run -> type "dxdiag" then hit ok :)

Everest is good. Lots of detailed information on whats there, as well as drivers, versions, etc etc. Good information on temps and overclocks as well.

I found out what it is. The software is called SANDRA by SiSoftware.

I havnt used Sisoft Sandra, for a few years now, mainly down to the fact that I found it a bit buggy.

Belarc adviser (I think it's available from CNET/Download.com), is pretty comprehensive, without having the benchmark bits and bobs that Sandra has.
