Software incredibly slow to load

Hi Guys
I have just finished building my new rig and after a mountain of problems i seem to be near the end.
One thing that is really puzzling me is that software either downloaded or from a disc are taking ages to install. Live mail has taken 20 minutes so far!

Any idea what could be causing this, when it does finally load it's fine.

i5 2500k
8 GB Ram
P8Z6-V PRO Mobo
Radeon 5770 GPU
650w PSU
1 x DVD Writer
1 x Blu Ray Writer
Windows 7 x 64 Pro O/S

What's the hard drive? What's the SATA mode in the bios?

it is a Seagate 500GB 6GB SATA

The bios is ACHI mode

Should it not be set to IDE? had ACHI enable a while back and kept encountering problems, could be just a coincedence though.

possibly something loading before your apps (or failing to load correctly)

in safe mode run a combofix.exe from bleeping computers.

anythign being logged in the event logs?
