Software installation monitor

Can anyone suggest a good package for tracking what changes software installation has on a machine? I'm interested in the obvious like registry, shortcuts and files but also if they make changes to system files and folders, and even better if it tracked permissions of those files/folders. It's for work so I'd rather have licensed software.

freeware util called procmon will do that for you
It will allow you to track what reg keys are being accessed and what files are being created or accessed as well
