One of my friends was wondering whether there is any software you can use to copy a Peugeot 306 HDi ECU? He's got the cables to connect up to the ECU with a laptop, just needs software to copy the actual ECU so it can be programmed onto another 306.

Any help much appreciated :)

Someone I know spend months, if not a year or two playing about with the ECU on his car, I think he piggy backed an EEPROM onto his ECU to mod it. That really doesnt help much but I know, but iirc he wrote the software himself and had to learn how the ECU works before he could do much with it.

Possibly the most pointless post above, im just trying to say, its possible there isnt actually any software to do it.

Would this be done through the diagnostics port?

often it is.

You can buy software to do so, I think Ihave sen it for sale on the web. It's not cheap though, and personally I would leave playing with mapping to the Pros.

there is more too it then just getting the software to tune your car though.

What about a wideband sensor for your air/fuel ratio....if you dont have that then your are waisting your time.
