I have loads of xvid encoded video's in widescreen. However, the DVD/divx player I have at the moment wont zoom in. I have an old 4:3 ratio tv and films are too small to view well.

Is there any software where I can reduce wide screen films so they can fill a 4:3 ratio tv... ie less black bar's at top and bottom?

You could zoom in keeping geometry correct, however lose left & right picture info. FFDSHOW can do this, if you use a HTPC.

Buy a new bigger widescreen TV. :)

You'll cut more off than a "bit" Get a 16:9 image and crop a 4:3 to the height of the 16:9 image. You'll miss a fair bit on the L/R sides.

I dont care :) I dont really want to view a film that looks like a belt on my TV. I dont mind a bit of black borders - just wanna reduce them by cutting right and left out of the video!
