I've never really been musical at all but over the last few weeks after many nights out I now have this uncontrollable urge to try and create some dance music of my own.

Any ideas on some good software to cut my teeth with?

Preferably something not too difficult to pick up but with enough features to give all me to be creative.

Do they usually come with samples you can mix together or do you have to buy those on their own?

fruityloops will probably be the easiest to work out how to use

ableton, cubase, reason, logic pro are other main tools , most people use a mixture of software

Ableton is the boy, but as your just starting out it might be a tad expensive and complicated. Reason is also quite good but not as user friendly when starting out.

I would start with something loop based to begin with like magix music maker and see if you like producing music. It requires a lot of patience....but is very very rewarding.

Most of the software companies will let you download a demo version so I would just try a few and see what you like, nothing is better than Ableton for me though.

Big user of Reason here, I've used it to produce a lot of music, in particular trance and other electronic genres, some of which I have released! If you want some help using it (things can be quite daunting to a beginner) feel free to drop me an email.

Thanks guys at least now I know where to start. :)

As suggested I think I'll give each of them a try and see which I get on with best.

I'm sure I'll have a whole load more questions for you all once I've had a play. :D
