software to disect (sp?) MP3's

I want to cut up a couple of MP3's to create some mobile ring tones.

Are there any free bits of software out there that will do this?

Convert them to .wav files and use the wave recorder to cut them up, then convert the new files back to .mp3 ?

does that convert them too?

i've got audacity already....didn't think about that.

I've downloaded goldwave too.

will see how i go with these.
