Software to find images that are duplicates?

I've got about 300gb worth of photos, however some of these are duplicates through years of messing about, and there are many different folders.

Is there any software that can adequately detect duplicate images?

You can do this using checksums for each of the files assuming duplicates are the same image at the same resolution.

There are scripts to do this knocking around on stack overflow if you wanted to roll your own checksum generator script, or you could use something pre-written but it would probably help for is to know what operating system to make suggestions on that.

If I remember Lightroom Classic without a licence will let you catalogue all your photos and check for duplicates.

Also, thinking about it, if they are on a NAS then the NAS may be doing de-duplication in the background already - only really relevant though if you are only concerned about file space.

Also worth checking you have backups with that kind of quantity of images.
