Software to help convert audio Tape to MP3

I have a tape recording (of fairly bad quality) that i want to convert to mp3. I have the leads and a tape player etc but need to fiddle around with it to mimamise hiss and pick the voice out more clearly.

Any ideas chaps ?

Just tried it on a small sample file. Looks pretty cut and dry and simple. Simply highlight the song, cut it to the clipboard, and paste it into a new file. Name appropriately, job done. Pretty cool.

Now to play with some filters and such to see how well it cleans 'em up.

Just tried the noise removal feature on a small file. Not bad! Not bad!

Chirping - noisy

Chirping - clean
