I've been given the blue microphones snowball ice as a present, mostly for use in game and on skype. Unfortunately there's no easy way of muting/unmuting it. Currently I am resorting to right clicking on the sound icon in the taskbar, selecting recording devices, double clicking the microphone and muting it from that window, which is not possible to do quickly in games.

What I would like is some method (presumably some sort of 3rd party software running in the background) that will let me either press a key on the keyboard or a button on the xbox 360 controller while I am in game or on skype to mute/unmute the mic. I do not want push to talk (or push to mute if that is a thing) because this gets awkward quite quickly in games for me. Unfortunately I have a very basic keyboard and mouse which do not have macro buttons so that doesn't look like an option.
