Software to record my desktop?

I play a lot of online poker and I'd like to record a session of my play in order for it to be used as study material. I dont need any fancy recording tools or editing tools so I was hoping there might be free software that meets my minimal needs but still produces good quality video.

If anyone knows of any such software i'd appreciate a heads up.

Use it for recording games and other stuff at home, tonnes of quality settings and will happily record full 1080p at a decent framerate if you have the disk space to store that.

I had issues with recording my desktop and then trying to edit as a video due to the fluctuating frame rate that a lot of them use.

Think it was debut video capture that worked ok in the end.

I then ran the raw footage through Handbrake to chop the file size down while retaining good quality.
