Just got my nan a new laptop as she wants to be able to go online and her current laptop is really old. The only thing were worried about is her using her credit cards online. She is 86 and has a problem with giving out her card details over the phone and buying a lot of stuff that my mum then has to return as she doesnt want or remember buying. Were a bit concerned she will hit the bingo sites and not realise how much shes spent (her phone bill is about £200 a month and thats from entering competitions). Is there any software I can install that will restrict the use of credit/debit cards on the laptop?

Yeah bank is one option I guess, can they specifically block internet transactions.

What would you use to block sites? Something like netnanny?

Take her card off her and give her an allowance?

You could write a script to block credit card information I suppose but it wouldn't be that easy.

Thought of that but it is her money. We just don't want her getting conned which kind of wehat happens now on the phone. Could reduce the card limit down to £500 I suppose. The writing script is way above my head.

if its a Win7 laptop its got built in parent controls that would do the trick.

That sounds good. It has 7 Home Premium installed on it. Just searched and came up with this as well which would cover the Bingo and slot machines.
