Software to take a middle bit of an mp3 to make a new one?

IE a dance tune mp3 which has a 20sec bass intro.

I want this song as a ring tone, but I wanna cut a certain section of the song for making a new mp3?

What software (free) can do this?

Audacity with the lame_mp3 plugin. Good program.

If you use Nero, thats got a fairly capable MP3 / WAVE Editor built in.

Another vote for this ... I was doing something similar yesterday, (hence my thread on extracting the mp3 audio out of a divx file), and this was what I used to chop the bit I wanted out of the mp3 generated.
