software updater

hi guys, new around here and am just getting back into my computer

basically I'm looking for something to keep me up to date without too much aggro (running windows 7) looked at a few such as ninite but don't want to be limited to there lists of app's etc, does anyone know to anything out there? ideally free too

No problem, it's one I stumbled on recently. It works nicely particularly for stuff like java or programs that don't have a decent auto updater.
