Solar Charged LED Strings. Battery Box Water

Hi, first time poster. I've bought several strings of battery-powered, solar-charged garden LEDs. They seem only to last a year or so before water gets into the battery compartment and corrodes the contacts and battery. I've looked for replacements chargers/batteries without luck. If I can't replace the box I have to chuck the whole LED string and that's a terrible waste, especially as I've spent time installing them.

Any advice gratefully received.

You'd need to protect them from corrosion, open them up and spray with lithium grease, silicone grease or similr to give it a good barrier of protection from getting wet. Maybe drill some small drain holes to prevent water from accumilating.

Well worth a try for new LEDs. I was thinking along the same lines but now the damage is done - terminals corroded through - I thought a new battery box would be useful. Thanks for the advice.

have had similar problems mainly chinese ones , always seemed a waste to put new one up ,then noticed on the bay.... you can buy replacement boxes to control the strings i have 3 sets now running off one box .
i have a greenhouse with polycarbonate panels so drilled a hole in one and mounted the box with new solar panel inside greenhouse and ran the wires (extended )to the lights. i found if you use a 3 volt battery you can test the wires to the lights when disconected to find the positive and neg for connections. ill try and find the unit if poss and post.

this is the one remote is a bit confusing only used mine on 50 per cent but can have patterns and duration. also means i can charge the batteries with a power pack and the lead that comes with it in winter months when not so much sun. instructions are basic but usable:) eBay item number:356644050342

sounds expensive but i used some speaker cable to extend the lengths to the strings and as said now power 3 seperate strings from one unit.
