Hi all,

Friend of ours saw something on social media about 100% funded solar panels.

The website is a .org and states that it's subsidised solar with no upfront costs etc... from the government but how true are these? Obviously a lot of these "too good to be true" things normally are.

Is there still funding for this etc...?

Thanks.

Unless they're in during the day using the generated electricity... no point.

As Jono said, you'll get no Feed in Tariff returns and unless you're there during the day you'll hardly use the generated electricity, unless they install a battery store, which I suspect they won't for free anyway.
Andi.

Your essentially rent your roof out for a few quid. When panels where 15k it kind of made sense, now you can get them under 6k makes no sense.
The company gets the feed in tarrif and any sold back to the grid. So the only money you get is a reduction in bill from any units you use straight from the panel. Which obviously produce nearly all when most people aren't at home.

Was it this web site

They take the FiT until the equipment is paid for, no mention of a battery system, no mention of what the system costs so no accurate details of when you'll pay it off.

I'd be inclined to look for a house improvement loan and buy outright. Look very carefully at the payback period, it is getting longer as FiT reduces and I suspect panels may not be getting cheaper (pound drop).

So they came around to tell us all the facts and I'm surprised I didn't tell the guy to get the hell out of my house.

He wouldn't take no for an answer, was swarmy and just generally went quite nasty towards the end. Coupled with his oversized suit, I guess he was on hard times and wanted the sale, but the hard sell wasn't going to do it.

Waste of space company.

Solar panel salesmen are the double glazing salesmen of the 21st century.
