Just wondering if any of the ZFS gurus here could give me some feedback on whether this is doable/wise...
I've got an HP ML115 server with two 1.5TB Seagates. I've also just bought a couple of IDE Compact Flash drives (or Disk on Modules / DOMs). The idea is to install Solaris (of some kind) onto the DOMs in mirror or RAIDZ format, then created a mirrored RAIDZ1 storage pool with the Seagates.
I figured that, if this is possible, I might then be safer if the installation fails, as I have my data stored on the RAIDZ Seagates.
Obviously write speeds are going to be rubbish, but I'm wondering whether this is worth a try and whether anyone can provide any tips, please?
