For those who dont get Macformat... Page 14

I work at Rolls Royce... I actually put "lazy aerospace inspector" but Russell who put the page together omitted a few bits from the interview... including my plug for OcUK, TalkPhotography forums and my own website....

My mini is up on the 'bay. I hope to get a shiny Mac Pro for Xmas... :D so I will have to leave OS X for a little while and go back to Windows XP.
I'd hold out till January and get the rumoured 8-core Mac Pro ;)

Im considering getting one, but, people on Anandtech and Macrumors have suggested that the Macpros FSB and chipset wont be able to anywhere near feed the 8-cores running flatout, bottlenecking and you will never get the full potential out of them until a major motherboard revision is made... This kinda put me off and I think I may instead get a 4x 3gb machine instead... Im going to wait for reviews this time before I buy one, Im specifically interested in the Aperture, CS2/3 and Folding@home performance.

Yesterday my girlfriend was given a mac book to use for two years, her college supplies them. She couldn't get me off it yesterday. :p Shame I've just spend 600 squid on a Laptop :( Gutted.

hehe. I'd love to but I need XP for work :(.

My pc is a couple of years old. I'm contenplating selling that for a Mac Mini.

Parallels / Bootcamp is what you want :) I run XP on a second virtual desktop so I can press a key combo and the screen rotates and ou have XP :) press the key combo again and Im back to OSX :)

Sounds awesome, I litterally only need XP for a few bits of software and for a domain at work.

I was amazed at how fast they load. I thought it was in standby and had to reboot it again to check :p

:) same here, I need xp to put music onto my mp3 player :(

this may sound a silly question but!
can you dual boot on any of the laptops apple do ?
I use my computer mainly for photoshop, illustrator, flash, 3ds max, premier and after effects. Its for my multimedia course at uni.
In the past month the PC has cost me around £400 after HDD, CPU, RAM, mobo, and 2days ago the PSU went.
So i was thinking about getting a mac as my house mate just got a 2nd hand G5 and loves it, but he's on a music course so i cant tell what spec etc i would be after.
Currently on p4 805D @ 3.6g, 1gb ram. So software i use isn't slow really, if i was to change i would want same speeds or faster.
But 3Ds Max isn't available on mac, so i would need something that can run XP and OSX, which im assuming only the intel macs can do. But one of my house mates has a thing for slagging them off saying they're not as good as the older style macs?
oh and can you put any graphics cards into desktop macs? As at the moment i have a 6800GT and 6200LE running 3 monitors which i would ideally want to carry over onto a mac.
Overall though, would it be easier to buy a mac laptop and keep my pc, or completely change over with a dual boot for 3Ds max and any other programs i use.

thanks :)
