All,
I am on the hunt for a reliable AM2 compatible mATX motherboard for my media PC.
It will replace the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H which I am currently using but having niggling issues with:
- S3 suspend having issues when waking up
- SB overheating and causing the system to auto-shutdown when watching Five OD or playing games. This is a known problem with this board (which weirdly has only been an issue for me since putting a 5770 card in & disabling the on-board graphics) and is unacceptable.

I have no preference for a manufacturer, but cheaper the better (will consider s/h as well) and MUST have optical spdif audio out, preferably with a good sound chip with DD Live / DTS Connect.

So any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

well the IGP is part of the northbridge, not the southbridge, but that is pretty poor.

what cpu is it? (the 780G chipset suggests your board is an AM2+...)

Ah the northbridge then. Yeah, i only found out the problem after about 18 months of having the board when it first started going wrong. I've tried to remedy the situation by re-seating the heatsink & applying some thermal paste as well as putting an extra fan blowing right over it but it still gets too hot if the weather is good & i am gaming on it :(

It is a 4850e.
