Hey all,

Has anyone booked a 'everything sorted for you' solo trip before and if so, where did you book it from?

This website looks interesting and has a lot but looking for ideas. :)

I am not looking to book it myself/know it may be cheaper but want an all in solution.

I booked a trip to Norway with much better adventures.

Basically they source and vet third parties.

In my case this was a 5 night kayaking and wild camp. I went solo and joined a group of 7 others.
It wasn't cheap though. What even is cheap for this sort of thing?

Was an amazing holiday.

I've been to India with Intrepid, Exodus & GAdventures as a solo guy travelling in their group tours. Some of these tour operators will also plan you a bespoke trip if you don't want to go in a group, but I've never used that option as they always came across as very expensive. All three trips were great but the the last few trips over there, I've designed the whole itinerary myself. I just like the extra freedom to stay in places for as long as I like. Also the 2023 group trips from the three operators above all look a little same-y and seem to cater for travellers that have not visited the country before.

There's possibly still some leg work for you to do if you did go somewhere like India with a tour company, you'd need to sort your own Visa out, maybe own flights too, unless you don't mind them charging you more to do that for you.

One thing about the group tours that I wasn't keen on was the 'kitty' which was for things like tipping locals which the tour leader was in charge of. Personally, I'd rather tip locals myself. Oh and the wait at shops whilst a few of the other tourists bought things. Oh & the odd request by others in the group to locate a (insert part) for their (insert equipment) and the late arrivals, and not forgetting the one who got lost and held up the group, and on the rare occasion that I shared a room with someone - stepping in sick when getting out of bed. Sorry, I just keep thinking of things :)

Been with Intrepid on about 4 trips (South Korea, Iceland, Jordan and Peru) also did a couple with Flashpack pre covid (Finland and Japan) no complaints on either to be honest.

Agree with what was mentioned above they tend to be good for first time visits to a country as most of the itineraries cover all the main sights so if you’ve been somewhere before you might end up covering old ground.

I’ve found you meet great people as well in your group, might have been lucky but haven’t ran into anyone I wouldn’t want to holiday with up to now!

Meet Up has a few, I did one to Chernobyl years ago and had a great time and did a few more to European city`s for long weekends that i fancied always someone you click with. Be prepared to have your mind blown by people with so little common sense your amazed they lived past being 21 :) (mostly dizzy woman)
