Solution to this Electronics Situation.

Hey all,

I dont no previous knowledge of electronics but i have this situation that i was wondering if anyone has a solution too!

Ok i want to be able to have a BUTTON SWITCH, and when you press this BUTTON SWITCH a MESSAGE is displayed on a LCD DISPLAY strip. i have heard of PIC's and was wondering if this could be achieved using these?? really want to get into electronics as i have a few cool ideas that i want to impliment. Sorry if i insulted any electricians out there with my dumbness

also found this PIC book says its aimed at newbie level (thats me) would this be appropiate to pick up?

That would work. You'll need to buy a switch, a PIC and a PIC trainer. You then write some code, usually assembly, and program the PIC.

Edit: It's been a while since I've looked at PICs so I can't remember whether you can program them directly through a serial/USB port.

its been 3 years since i did it too but PIC progrannings easy once youve got the hard ware you need and a little book to help you
