Hi all - I'm totally stumped as to what is going on here. No matter what I set in the power settings, the machine refuses to go to sleep. It's driving me potty.

Any idea as to what's going on? Thanks in advance.

Open a command prompt with admin rights and run, "Powercfg /energy". What does that say?

Do you have lots of peripherals plugged in? One of them might be stopping the computer from going into sleep mode.

Open Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> System and check for events around the time your computer was meant to go to sleep, any interesting events then that might give you a clue?

@MarcLister / @Tetras sorry for the delayed reply and thanks for your responses.

It’s a new PC and I’m whittling down what is causing it - it’s a USB device… I just need to figure out which one it is! I’ll update the thread once I make the time to properly sort it out.

***SOLVED!***

I thought I would update the thread as promised :)

It was my USB speakers that were causing this issue, specifically a pair of Edifier S880DBs. When unplugging that specific USB cable, the computer would go to sleep as intended.

After lots of faffing around with drivers, I resolved the problem (with the computer now going to sleep as intended) by disabling some 'Human Interface Devices' drivers (and not the audio drivers), as shown here:

Bizarre, but it worked! Worth a punt if anyone else has the same issue.

Nice one. I had a Raspberry Pi Zero that I used as a set of hotkeys but this kept needing to be restarted. I noticed the other night that my computer wouldn't go to sleep if this was plugged in so I just unplugged it. Might need to look for something else to replace it that doesn't need to be restarted every few days.
