[Solved] Overclocking 980TI (Crashing)

Hello,

So I've been trying to overclock my MSI 980TI today and I've been unable to make even the slightest increment to any of the clock speeds without my computer crashing once I begin benchmarking in Heaven 4.0.

PSU: EVGA 850W G2
CPU: i7 6700k OC'd @ 4.6Ghz.

Anyone got any ideas?

What are you using to clock and what are your temps?

Assuming heaven runs fine at stock? Might be worth checking power cables/card is seated correctly

I am using MSI afterburner, and temps never exceed 74 C whilst overclocked or at stock under the load of the heaven benchmark.

Runs fine at stock, no crashing, just a bit of stutter here and there.

I should add that the most I can overclock the core clock is +75, if I go +100 it instantly crashes as soon as you start benchmarking on scene #1.

is that an eight and a 6 pci cable when it should be 2x8 for that particular card?

That's your problem it should have two 8 pins plugged in, guessing you have realised that from the stars

We have all done similar and worse over the years
