I have an e8400, abit ip35 pro board + 4gb gskill 8000
I have managed to overclock it to 3.6ghz @ 1.265v
I dont think it really needs to go higher as it runs everything I throw at it but I'm on holiday so wanna have a go
it reached 3.6 with only adjusting the cpu voltage
I had it getting in to windows at 4ghz @ 1.355v but 3dmark wouldnt run + stress tests failed instantly
I had to mess with some of the other voltages...cpu vtt etc to get it to boot but I dont really know what these voltages are for and if they reduce the lifespan of any components significantly, so I'm back at 3.6ghz until I find out a bit more
should I be careful ?
there's only so many options for each one so is it safe to assume I can just mess around with the settings that are there or could I end up frying something if they are set too high, or for too long ?
