OK so I have 2 780 Lightnings in sli...the top card at idle sits about 38-40c, the lower card sits about 23c , does that sound right ?...also when I was in project cars the top card went up to around 68c...while the lower card was sitting at about 25c...does that also seem right ?

2nd card will be slightly cooler, but under load 68/25 would indicate to me that sli is not functioning.

My sli cards run 85/75 under high load.

Hmmm well I just went and had a look in the Nvida control panel ...and saw that sli was not enabled ..so I have fixed that( it was before ) ...so I will give them some stick later if i can get on origin

Also the two cards are very close together

You may overheat in very intensive games. SLI on open air coolers is not a great idea.

Edit. Run Unigene Valley for about 20 minutes, you'll soon find out your temps.

Top card will indeed get a fair bit hotter than the bottom one. I ran sli 780 gigabyte wf cooled models in an Asus z87 Maximus 6 formula board., similar spacing as the hero. Top card would often get up to 85c. Bottom one never over 65c. Dual slot cards so a slightly bigger gap.

well i just been back into project cars and seems as though all is ok top card up at 61c..and lower card up at 47c...but to be fair PC is not the most demanding game for my cards ...i'll have to wait for origin to decide to work and do some BF4 , and the gap between the two is not too bad but its that reactor on the top of the card that is nearly touching the upper cards about 2-3 mms gap lol

I was wondering if the Reactor is only used when the card/s are being OC'ed ?...and if so can they be removed as I'm running them at stock ?

That will happen every time a new driver is installed.
