Hey,

I am going to be purchasing a laptop for Uni. I'm very much wanting a gaming laptop that is powerful and able to play the latest games at decent settings.

I am considering the Dell Studio XPS 16 with the following spec;

Priced around 1600£.

However, i've been reading up on the new Intel i7 cores and they will be soon replacing the Core2Duos?

I am wondering with those specs above, would i be able to get a similar laptop with the new i7 core at a similar price? or do you think they will be overpriced for a good few months?

Hopefully it's all made sense!

Great spec , trouble is i am finding dell a little expensive these days

Check this out , looks very nice

I was actually considering the Alienware M15x, but the screen is only a fraction smaller than the studio XPS, which is putting me off since i want atleast a 16"+.

However the price is good! though what my main question for this topic was whether the new stream of laptops to come out around October with the new Intel CPU's whether they would be just aswell spec'd as the one i posted aswell as being around the same price.

I can only imagine that the prices would be higher for even the lower end i7. Which brings me to asking whether the i7 720M is better or worse than your T9900 or P8800.

Buy the Alienware, get an SSD and a big monitor - should be able to get it all for your budget :D

Can't find many reviews, but to me is a no-brainer
