Some advice on new build (i3 vs i5)

So, I am looking to build my parents a new system to replace their current 6+ y/o system that was a budget build at new.

Hopefully want to keep as close to £400 or at least below £500 for the build. I'd imagine most of the cost would go into MB, CPU and ram as I can re-use the case, peripherals and monitor.

In my head, I am thinking of using a Kaby Lake i5 (7500), but wonder if it is worth going down to an i3 (7100)? They just use it for internet (Email / FB / Banking) and some office tasks.
I know they wont need much power, but is it worth investing more into the i5 over the i3?

MB cant imagine will differ. Looking at an ASUS Prime Z270 as the z270 range is not much different in price to the Z170.

8GB DDR4 2400 ram.

Probably get a M.2 hdd for quick boot OS and a standard hdd for everything else.

Seasonic power supply (450W should be plenty).

No GPU as there is no need. Just use onboard graphics. (Single monitor use)

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. I always struggle to build a low end system as I try to get for the best. Then I just have to tell myself, this is not for me and all that power is not needed.
That said, the system needs to be good enough to last a fair few years.

Thanks for the info guys. Didnt know about the better i3 coffee lake vs the i5 kaby lake.

Probably aim for the coffee lake then. Hopefully be a bit more future proof using latest generation chip.
Alternatively, something I would need much more details about is potentially using Ryzen, but as i've never used AMD and know far more about Intel.

Would the new Ryzen chips of similar budget as the i3 coffee lake be better? or nothing really in it at the lower levels?

Agreed, a 1050 gtx is not required when the most it will ever process is youtube videos and excel spreadsheets.

Lots to consider now. Userbenchmark website seem to give the i3 a higher score overall, although the R5 outperforms it on multi-core. Although I doubt it will be noticeable at their level of use.

As the price is so similar for the 2 builds, would probably look at staying with intel. (Something I am a bit more familiar with).
